🧍♀️More About Me – My Journey So Far
Hi everyone! I wanted to take a moment to share a little more about myself and where I come from.
I’m 52 years old, born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey. I lived there during my early years, then spent some time in Union and Vauxhall, New Jersey. When I was 14, my family moved to Irvington, NJ. That’s where I finished grade school and got ready to start high school.
I have such fond memories of grade school—it was truly one of the best parts of my life. We did all kinds of fun things, and I especially loved being in plays. I got to act and be creative, and I was really involved in school activities. One of the people who made that time so special was my wonderful teacher, Mrs. Roberson. She was kind, caring, and full of joy, and we had so much fun together, especially during the holidays.
I remember how she would take us out to restaurants around Thanksgiving and Christmas—it felt like such a big, exciting adventure. Those moments made school feel like more than just a classroom. They made it feel like home.
From there, life brought a lot of changes. If you’ve been reading my blog, you already know I eventually lost my sight completely and now live as a totally blind person. But even before that, my journey through school, young adulthood, and figuring out how to navigate a world that wasn’t always built for me—those experiences shaped who I am today.
I’ll be sharing more of those memories as I go, including things I’ve touched on already, like how I still “see” colors and shapes in my mind, even without eyes. But I wanted to start with the basics, because behind all the deep thoughts and sensory experiences, I’m just a real person from Jersey with a story to tell.
