Reflections on Color, dreams, and connections.
Yesterday was a day of fire. My inner world was ablaze with a bright red energy, shifting and glowing so intensely that it felt almost alive. At times, tiny sparks of yellow danced through it, creating movement and light, like sequins catching the sun. It reminded me of the dream I had last night—the first one I can remember in a long time—where a woman wore a red dress, white or yellow sparks catching and flashing across it as she moved. It passed through my mind quickly, almost like a burst of energy, and it stayed with me as I drifted off to sleep.
Morning brought a gentle contrast. When I woke up, the burning red had softened. Now, the main color I see is caramel, with small bits of bright red floating slowly through it. Behind my eyes, there’s a darker reddish-brown, the same color I used to see whenever I closed my eyes before I went totally blind. Back then, with sight, the center of that reddish-brown would have a slight greenish hue—the part that “opens” when the eyes do. It’s amazing how my inner world remembers, even without physical sight.
This shift in color reflects more than just my inner visual world—it mirrors my thoughts and feelings. Yesterday, I was busy posting about my bright red energy, reflecting on my dreams, and sharing my inner fire with my friends and community. I heard from my best friend, Jenna Hildebrand, who was taking it easy that morning, having coffee while tidying up the kitchen for her mom. Just knowing she was enjoying a quiet moment while caring for her family made me feel connected, even across the distance.
The calm of today—the caramel, the floating red, the deep reddish-brown—feels like a pause, a quiet balance after the intensity of yesterday’s fire. It reminds me that not every moment needs to blaze. Sometimes, quiet colors, slow sparks, and gentle energy are just as important.
Writing this down, I realize how much my inner visual world reflects the ebb and flow of life itself: passion and intensity, quiet reflection, and connection to those we love. Whether it’s the bright red of yesterday’s energy, the small sparks of yellow, or the soothing caramel today, each color tells a story.
Through it all, I carry gratitude—for the people who make life richer and brighter, for the dreams that spark imagination, and for the colors that remind me of the depth of my inner life. From bright red to caramel calm, my inner world is a landscape of energy, connection, and reflection, and I am so grateful to be able to share it.
